There is a very good suspension FAQ available at on BME. A few additional questions specific to our group and location are answered below.

Is suspension legal in the UK?

Under UK law, acts are legal, unless they fall within the remit of statute or case law which prohibits them. Currently there are no rules about suspension mentioned in the statute books, and there has yet to be a case brought to court about it. There is one small area of law under which some suspension practitioners may be prosecuted, which is that you are not allowed to hurt another person if the motivation is sexual gratification. At body evolution, nothing we do has anything to do with sex, so, under the current UK law, our suspension events are completely legal.

How old do I have to be to suspend?

There is no set age when people are 'ready' for a suspension. We are much more interested in your reasoning and your state of mind. However, there could be possible legal implications if we suspended anyone under the age of 18, so we have to enforce this as a minimum age for our own peace of mind.

I am rather overweight, is it still possible for me to suspend?

Provided your weight isn't causing you any other health problems, being overweight alone isn't enough to prevent you from suspending. It may be that more or thicker hooks are used than for most people, or that a horizontal suspension is recommended to spread the weight more evenly, but you should be able to get off the ground safely and relatively painlessly. If you wish to suspend with body evolution and are concerned your weight may be an issue, then we will be happy to discuss this with you in more detail either over email, or in person.

If you have any general suspension/ritual related questions, please ask them on BME QOD (direct your questions to vampy). Alternatively, if you have a more specific question relatining to body evolution, or you would like to suspend with us, you can email us directly.
